My honest opinion is sure he was a big leader and conquered places and what not. but he both did and did not deserve the title of Alexander the Great because all he did was fight to conquer places, and kill people and put people into to slavery. But at the same time he did because he got all those places but he should've been helping his people more then fighting for places.

I believe Alexander the Great deserved his title. He ruled all Greece and all the way to India, he was a leader and people looked up to him. Alexander deserved his title.

I think that whether or not Alexander the Great deserves his title depends on your personal political stance. If you lean more toward a liberal or democratic party then Alexander may be great to you. If you're more conservative then maybe Alexander kind of got in the way and ruined the traditional civilizations of the nation. I think it also depends on whether or not you agree with the way he went about persevering things and the way he got things done. Some of his ideas and plans were much more drastic and severe than others.

I believe that Alexander the Great did deserve his title because he proved that age didnt always mean you had a lack of knowledge. At such a young age, at the time, he was the most intelligent military officer the world had ever seen. Also he conquered the Persian Empire that had most of the known world under its control. Alexander the Great also assimilated the territories he conquered and brought a new culture that heavily influenced his empire. He did instill fear by terrorizing cities in order to keep his subjects from rebellion. Saying this he did like to give and make sure his subjects were looked after. Alexander, im my eyes, did deserve his title.

I believe Alexander deserves his title one hundred percent! Not only was he well educated, he was a strong, military leader as well. Alexander was able to conquer such a vary of places that no ordinary person could have accomplished. He proved that age wasn't a factory in being able to take over Egypt, the Tigris and Euphrates rivers of Mesopotamia, Persia and a section of Asia. No other man was able to conquer this much land in the time frame he did, which is why he deserves the name "Alexander the Great".

To be "great" does not necessarily mean to be positive. Because Alexander was great, I think it means that he was very, very powerful.

I do believe that Alexander The Great came by his title fairly and justly. He was a cunning and strategic leader, sure he was harsh on some of the things he did. That being said he was revered for his fearsomeness in battles and fought hard to garner what he wanted which was rewarded by winning new lands that no other would have ever been able to accomplish. He was a hero to all the Greeks thought to be divine.

I think that Alexander the Great was deserving of his title because he proved to be a beneficial figure toward the Greek movement. Not only did he allow many different cultures to be discovered and acknowledged by others, but he also introduced the civilization to the Hellenistic age. However, that being said, he also used up all of his time to conquer as many civilizations as he could, heavily interfering with the previous lifestyle that these people had. He strive for power was both admirable (because of his devotion) and terrorizing. Whether he had a positive or a negative impact on society, Alexander was still considered "great" because of the power he had managed to obtain despite his age, and the tedious amount of tasks that he was involved with during his ruling.

Yeah I believe that Alexander deserves the title of Alexander the Great. He truly was a great leader for his time and era, however if he were in our era he would probably have been incarcerated for actions, but we're not talking about our era, we're talking about his. So yes for his time era he really did deserve his title, even though he was quite eccentric with his actions and motives. He was a brilliant leader that had won many wars and battles that kept many of his people safe, so in the long run I believe that he did more good then bad, as so winning the title of Alexander the Great in my books.

Yes he deserved his title because the people of Greece looked up to him, and saw him as a great leader.. He may have been a little rude and obnoxious at times, but hey aren't all rulers ?!?

People may have looked up to Alexander the Great, but people also feared him. In order to conquer places, Alexander killed numerous people. I don't think he deserved the title of Alexander the Great.

I think that he does deserve his title mostly because to be great does not mean to be nice and loving it means to have power and people who follow you. And Alexander had that, his kingdom was huge and he was a great fearless ruler.

I agree with what Sam said. Great doesn't mean the nicest or most caring person. Alexander had many followers even though he wasn't very nice. I think he deserves the title.

Alexander of Macedonia deserves the title Alexander the Great because of his great accomplishments at such a young age and a short life. Some of his more outstanding achievements were breaking the superpower was Persia and never losing a battle in all his military career. Some of the most famous battles Alexander won were Issus and Gaugamela in both he had much less men than his enemies in both fights yet he still won both. His goal was to ends of the world and the Great Outer Sea but he never finished it because he had to turn back because of the near mutiny of his troops and then he later died after developing a fever a few years later. But although his goal was not accomplished he still accomplished a hell of a lot of things and that makes him deserving of his title Alexander the Great.

Considering how young Alexander of Macedonia was, and the fact that he was a rebellious king with sometimes selfish motives, he is completely worthy of the title, "Alexander the Great".

How great somone is depends on the the eyes of the veiw. i dont think that many of the people who were slayin by his army and the people sold into slavery would ever agree to alexander being "Great" but to the people of macedonia and the ones he showed mercy too may beg to differ.

He created and lead the 2nd largest empire ever. He was the general responsible for conquering the Persian empire, and Asia minor. If not for the lack of resolve from his army he would have most likely taken all the land to the Pacific Ocean.
